Mills County Public Health (MCPH)
is a Medicare/Medicaid certified agency. Home health care services are available
to all qualifying residence of Mills County. Home care can be utilized to
help treat, restore, rehabilitate or maintain a person safely in their home.

A nurse coordinates all home care services with the client their
family and physician as well as other members of the medical team.
Services may be reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, private
fee. PREVENTIVE SERVICES
Health education and promotion is provided throughout Mills County to
schools, businesses, community activities, area organizations. Upon request, a
nurse will provide health education activities. Some educational topics

IMMUNIZATIONS
Childhood and adult immunizations are available at the Mills County Public
Health Immunization clinics. An assessment of immunization history will be done
to advise what immunizations are needed. These clinics are held weekly at the
office. There is no charge for vaccine for those who qualify. Donations
accepted. Please contact Mills County Public Health for times and dates @
712-527-9699. FLU CLINICS
Influenza and pneumonia vaccines are available in the fall. Please call Mills
County Public Health for dates and locations of these clinics.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
Surveillance and investigation of communicable diseases are an ongoing function
of Mills County Public Health. Contact MCPH @ 712-527-9699 for questions
concerning communicable diseases. MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH
Maternal Health Care
Education and case management available to pregnant women to promote healthy
pregnancies and healthy babies. There is no cost to enroll in this
program.
Newborn
baby visits
Nursing visit following birth by Registered Nurse to provide assessment,
education and referrals to community resources.
This service may be free to qualifying individuals, or may be paid by Medicaid
or insurance.
Referrals accepted from physicians or individuals requesting care
Breast
Feeding Education and Support
Individual education and support provided by a certified breast feeding
educator.
Hospital-grade breast pumps available to those who qualify.
CARE FOR KIDS/EPSDT (Early & Periodic Screening Diagnosis &
Treatment)
Education and case management for families of children birth through age 21 who
receive Medicaid insurance benefits. CHILDHOOD LEAD
POISONING PREVENTION
Lead poisoning prevention education provided.
Lead testing available to children ages one through five according to Iowa
Department of Public Health guidelines. Case management provided to
individuals with abnormal lead levels.
